NAYBC Tours 2018/19

[updated 24/10/2018]

The NAYBC will operate two tours for the 2018/19 season, The BTBA Tour and The Youth Bowling Tour.

The BTBA Tour remains largely unchanged from previous seasons, and will still feature a mix of events held across the country.

The Youth Bowling Tour is more than just a new name for the JTE / YTE tours.  Working with the Team England leadership team, we saw an opportunity to not only make the tour more competitive all season long but to also provide an opportunity for bowlers to compete in an exciting tour final.

The current Youth Team England Tour will finish in December 2018. Bowlers aged under 22 will be able to join the Youth Bowling Tour, more details on this will be provided below.

BTBA Tour

What is it?
14 events using different formats, spread across the year.

Who is it for?
Ideal for bowlers at the FUNdamentals and Foundation stages (stages 1-5 of the bowler pathway) who might not be ready to (or want to) move up to the Youth Bowling Tour.
There are divisions for Boys and Girls in the U11, U16, U19, and U22 age groups.

There is no additional registration fee to enter the tour.  Anyone entering events, but not registered for the YBT by 30th September 2018 will be enrolled on the BTBA Tour and will be eligible for tour points.

Points will be awarded in each division, starting at 120 then dropping by 10 to position 3 (100 points) and dropping by 5 to position 11 (60 points), then dropping by 1 point (59-0 points)

What happens at the end of the tour?
There will be a Tour Final for the top 6 in the U11, U16, and U19 age groups (based on their best 5 events – which must include NAYBC Nationals – from the 14 tour events).  Bowlers in the U22 will receive prizes based on their final position at the end of the tour.

Youth Bowling Tour

What is it?
This is a new combined age group tour and it will replace the JTE and YTE tours and include qualification for the Youth Triple Crown teams.

Who is it for?
Ideal for bowlers at the Foundation, Development and National stages (stages 3+ on the Bowler Development Pathway)
There are three age divisions, aged under 17, 19, 22 (as at 31/08/2020).

Although scoring pace will vary from event to event, the following minimum averages should be used as a rough guide:

  • Boys      150+
  • Girls       135+

There is a £15 registration fee to enter the tour, this applies to all bowlers. Bowlers must register and pay before they bowl in their first ranking tournament.  If a bowler is not registered by 30th September 2018 they will not be eligible for tour points for the Bowlplex Open Doubles (Poole).  After this, points will only be awarded for events following the bowler’s registration date.

Tour points will be awarded in each division, starting at 120 then dropping by 10 to position 3 (100 points) and dropping by 5 to position 11 (60 points), then dropping by 1 point (59-0 points)

What happens at the end of the tour?
The top 6 in each age group / division (based on best 6 from 11 events, which must include NAYBC Nationals) will be invited to a Tour Finals day.
The Youth Triple Crown teams will be made up from the top 4 bowlers in each age group / division (based on their best 8 from 10 events, and who are not selected for EYC or WYC – please see the Team England Qualification page for full details).

I look forward to seeing you at different events during the year!
